ITAD software for chain of custody, compared

Seven tools that hold the record of an ITAD job, from full ERPs to erasure software, described by what each vendor's own site says.

We make Serial Xtractor, which is built to feed records into tools like these rather than replace them.

Every ITAD job ends with the same claim: this drive, with this serial, from this client, was sanitized or destroyed. The software that holds that claim varies. Some tools run the whole business. Some run the processing floor. Some produce the erasure record itself.

This roundup covers seven tools. Each is described by what its own site says, with one exception noted under ITADCollect. All pages were read on 22 October 2026. Where a site doesn’t say something, we say so.

Makor ERP

Makor says it connects an ITAD, resale or e-waste operation “from intake to reporting” on one platform. Its software page lists asset barcoding, serialization during sorting, BIOS reader integration, integration with third-party diagnostic tools, and import of partners’ processing data. It lists certificates of destruction and of sanitization, real-time chain-of-custody transfer management, a pickup app with signatures, and a customer portal. Pricing isn’t published on its site.

RecyclyERP

RecyclyERP comes from Recycly Software Ltd, a UK company. It covers bookings, collections, erasure records, stock, resale and invoicing. Stock is tracked with barcode scanning from intake to dispatch. Erasure reports from Blancco, Aiken Workbench, Certus and YouWipe attach to the matching item, and existing records can come across from spreadsheet exports. It issues data destruction and erasure certificates per job, which customers download from a portal. It publishes prices in GBP: £3,000 one-off onboarding, then £54 to £26 per user per month depending on the number of users, with a three-user minimum.

Razor ERP

Razor describes itself as a cloud ERP for small to mid-size companies, including e-waste recyclers, ITAD providers, brokers and IT resellers. Its home page says it “tracks chain of custody from end-of-life to eCommerce.” It lists automated hardware auditing and multi-web-cam integration without further detail, and shows Blancco among its integration logos. Certificates of destruction aren’t mentioned on its site. Pricing is by quote.

ITADCollect

ITADCollect calls itself an ITAD platform for collection management, covering collections, warehouse processing, compliance reporting and resale. A third-party listing (SourceForge, not its own site) describes it as built for the UK ITAD market. It imports erasure certificates and system specifications from Aiken Software, Blancco, Ontrack and WipeDrive, and generates data destruction certificates and audit reports. Barcode scanning and serial capture aren’t mentioned on its site. It offers a cloud-hosted monthly plan, a self-hosted one-time purchase and custom quotes, with no figures published.

ItemStage

ItemStage markets its ITAD version as software for R2v3 facilities. It runs the floor as a serialized, stage-gated workflow. Units get barcode labels printed on site. Each stage change records a server timestamp and the team member. A sanitization gate stops a unit leaving that stage without a passing result. Erasure certificates come in by CSV and are matched to serials, and unmatched serials are reported. It says it doesn’t erase data itself. It exports a serialized certificate of destruction per media item. It publishes prices: $1,499 a month per certified facility, $2,499 for a sales-led tier, and from $299 for refurbishment work without compliance.

Evercycle

Evercycle describes an IT hardware lifecycle platform for enterprises, MSPs, ITAD providers and OEM partners. For ITAD providers it lists audit reporting, disposition tracking, and chain of custody visible to their customers. How serials are recorded, and whether it issues certificates of destruction, aren’t stated on its site. Pricing is by quote, on annual plans.

Blancco

Blancco is erasure software, not an ITAD ERP. Drive Eraser erases HDDs, SSDs and NVMe drives to standards including NIST and IEEE 2883, and issues a digitally signed certificate of erasure. Its Management Portal stores reports and exports them as PDF, XML or CSV, and Blancco says it integrates with ERP, CRM, asset management and warehouse systems. Like other erasure software, it reads each drive’s details from the drive itself during erasure. Pricing is through sales.

Where Serial Xtractor fits

Most of these tools get serials in by barcode or from erasure reports. That leaves the drives that never get wiped, the ones that go straight to the shredder, where someone has to read the label.

Serial Xtractor reads the serial from a photo of the label. It picks the right serial on 97.7% of labels it can read (209 of 214 readable labels out of 241, five-fold cross-validation, on our bench), matches every scan against the client’s asset list, and waits for the operator on anything unclear. It issues a certificate of destruction per job and a certificate-of-sanitization label per drive. There’s a free plan with 500 scans a month; Enterprise is by quote. An API for passing those records into the tools above is waiting on a build partner.

Questions for a demo

Ask each vendor how a serial gets in when a drive has no barcode. Ask what happens when a scanned serial isn’t on the client’s list. Ask what the certificate shows for each drive. The answers tell you where your team will still be typing.
